Between Urban and Rural: Is Agricultural Parks a Governance Tool for Developing Tourism in the Periurban Areas? Reflections on Two Italian Cases

The new demand for rurality raises issues: it is no longer a question of sustaining traditional agricultural model based exclusively on productivity and profit maximisation, but rather agriculture strongly oriented towards the production non-commodity outputs that very often have characteristics externalities or public goods. Based these assumptions, paper intends to frame role multifunctional development peri-urban areas looking in particular parks phenomenon, which innovative practiced (with environmental, landscape, social functions), asses if they can represent strategic resource tourist enhancement territories edge urban rural areas.
